Japan lifts chicken import ban from Brazilian state of Espirito Santo

The Japanese government has decided to ease its ban on chicken products originating from Espirito Santo state in Brazil, Reuters reported.

This ban on imports were initially imposed due to reports of bird flu cases within local backyard flocks. Japan lifting its ban on chicken imports from Espirito Santo state was confirmed by the Brazilian agriculture ministry on Thursday.

Japan, Brazil's second-largest market for chicken exports during the first half of this year, had imposed the ban on chicken products from Espirito Santo in late June. Additionally, restrictions were extended to products from Brazil's Santa Catarina state in mid-July.
