Estonia's winter grain import up nearly 7%
Compared with the same period last year, Estonia's winter grain purchases grew nearly 7% this year, and the average price paid for the grain fell 5.5% on year.
In all 96,674 tonnes of grain was bought in the first half of the year. The average purchase price of grain was EUR193.2 (US$238) per tonne against EUR204.5 (US$252) the year ago.
Wheat was bought in the highest amount in the first half of the year - 67,141 tonnes, 126% more than the year ago. The average price of wheat fell 15.7% and was EUR195.1 (US$241) per tonne.
The purchase price of barley fell 57.7% to 23,693 tonnes and the price fell US$0.94 to EUR191.3 (US$2236) per tonne. Rye was purchased 1,500 and oats 2,974 tonnes during the first six months of the year. The average purchase price of rye was EUR177.5 (US$219) and of oats EUR179.7 (US$222) per tonne.
The amount of rapeseed purchased grew 41.2% on year to 13,875 tonnes and the purchase price fell 2.4% to EUR472.4 (US$583) per tonne.
