China issues meat reserves regulations to take effect mid-September
Two Chinese ministries on Tuesday (Aug 14) issued regulations governing management of the country's meat reserves system, a move that comes as food prices, namely those for pork, soar.
The regulations cover management of live pigs, cows and sheep, as well as frozen pork, beef and mutton used for reserves, according to rules jointly issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Finance.
They take effect Sep 15. It was not immediately clear if the regulations were new or part of revisions to existing rules.
