Whole Oceans opens new main office in Bucksport, Maine; to build modern RAS facility

Salmon farmer Whole Oceans has opened a new office in Bucksport in Maine, USA, which will serve as its base of operations.
The company said it will build a state-of-the-art recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) that will be used to raise Atlantic salmon on the site of what used to be the Verso paper mill in the heart of Bucksport.
With the opening of the new office, located at 52 Main Street, last July, the company's office in Portland, Maine, closed down.
"We are excited to take one step closer to bringing this new industry to the town of Bucksport and the state of Maine. Joining the downtown business community in Bucksport will help us deepen the relationships we've already formed in the community as we look toward a successful future together", said Jacob Bartlett, CEO of Whole Oceans.
Susan Lessard, town manager of Bucksport, welcomed Whole Oceans, saying its relocation to Bucksport "is one step closer to future growth".
The Bucksport facility is currently in the pre-construction phase and continues to make progress toward groundbreaking, a company press release stated on Monday, Aug. 10.
Already, many of the remaining structures on the former site of the Bucksport paper mill have been demolished, it added.
"[T]he final result will be an improved facility in terms of space utilisation, energy usage and fish health", the company said.
