Vietnam suspends two shrimp processors

 
 

The National Agro-Forestry-Fishery Quality Assurance Department of Vietnam has suspended two shrimp processing firms from operations for six months for injecting shrimps with agar to make them heavier.

 

This was the second time the shrimp businesses have been found guilty of injecting agar to their products to raise profits.

 

Twenty-one more shrimp businesses in the southern provinces of Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau were also found to have used agar for the first time.
