European study proves again that GM feed does not affect eggs

There is no evidence genetically modified (GM) animal feed can have a harmful effect on meat and eggs, according to the European Food Safety Authority.

The research comes at a time when European authorities are facing calls to have meat, milk and eggs from animals fed on GM feed to be labeled as such.

The study also looked at whether the DNA from GM foods such as GM soy could also be absorbed by humans. The results echoed previous studies that humans would not be harmed by eating such products.

The study adds that the rapid breakdown of DNA and proteins during digestion reduces the chance of them being absorbed intact into the muscle, milk, or eggs of animals.
