China Corn Weekly: Faster price hikes amid shortages (week ended Aug 7, 2020)

Prices of corn surged at a faster pace as buyers were more wary of the shortages of grains in China. In Zhengzhou, Henan, corn prices jumped by as much as 12% amid tight availability.
 

Slow releases of state reserves corn after auction has resulted in supply tightness and prompted traders to withhold sales in view of stronger prices. With production falling below expectations, corn prices are likely to soar further to 2014's historic highs, which are just about 10% higher.
