Itoham sells Australian beef to China
To increase overseas sales, Itoham Foods's Sydney subsidiary had begun selling Australian beef to Beijing, China last month, the Japan-based ham and sausage processor said Aug 11.
The subsidiary, Rockdale Beef, will be selling high-quality beef to mainly affluent Chinese and Japanese in China, at a price three times than that of Chinese beef. Rockdale hopes to hit an annual sale of JPY1 billion over the next five years.
China resumed Australian beef imports after joining the WTO in 2001.
