US offers shrimp deal to avoid Thailand's WTO lawsuit

The US has announced that the continuous bond on Thai frozen shrimp would be revised if Thailand withdraw its complaint from the WTO.

However, Apiradi Tantraporn, director-general of the Trade Negotiations Department, said yesterday that Thailand was would still be filing the complaint with WTO.

The US Customs has earlier rejected Thailand's request to drop the bond.

The US is now bargaining to reduce the C-bond guarantee or waive it if Thailand withdrew its WTO case.
