Australian Feed Grain Users Request For Secure Supply

Australian feed grain users, including pork, beef and dairy producers, have requested for a secure supply from the grains industry.

John Keaveny from beef processor Australia Meat Holdings says the cattle feedlot industry cannot be overlooked as a serious market for grain.

He says it is critical the industry has a secure feed source, particularly as the US is expected to enter the lucrative Japanese beef market again later this year.

"The security of the supply of grain for the feedlot industry is the most important issue; and that feedlots are also a major value-adding industry for regional areas.

"We're there for the long haul, and we need to be guaranteed supply so we can make the best use of infrastructure in those areas."
