Oman Flour Mills accelerates construction of animal feed plant for enhanced local production

The Oman Flour Mills Company (OFMC) is close to completing construction of its animal feed production facility located in Muttrah, within the Muscat governorate, which seeks to harness local raw materials, refining them into high-quality animal feed products, Muscat Daily reported.
Key components of the feed mill have been successfully installed, and the premixing unit is in the final stages of testing to meet production standards, according to Haitham Mohamed al Fannah, chief executive officer of the Oman Flour Mills Company.
The ambitious project aims to be finalised by October 2023, as confirmed by Fannah. He also noted that this timeline from November to October serves as a testament to the dedicated efforts of the team behind the endeavour.
The design of the plant aligns with sustainable practices, economical operations, and a minimal environmental impact, as highlighted in an official statement. Beyond immediate production, the facility is anticipated to bolster local animal feed production capacities and cater to the specific nutritional requirements of various livestock.
Distinguishing itself with cutting-edge technology, the factory incorporates robotics for efficient packaging and innovative control systems for precision in feed production. Fannah explained, "Our robots not only simplify packaging but also cut costs. This ensures uniformity and precision. Our advanced control systems oversee every aspect of production. They ensure the consistency of our feed and allow real-time adjustments, ensuring top-notch quality."
More than just a production site, the plant's overarching goal is to drive growth in Oman's livestock sector. By reducing the need for imports and meeting local and regional demands with high-quality domestic products, the facility aims to contribute to the national economy and reinforce the agricultural and livestock sectors.
"The animal feed plants stand central to Oman's agriculture and livestock vision. They elevate productivity, enhance quality, and foster a self-sustained economy," Fannah said.
