Tongwei eyes expansion in Philippines as Beijing-Manila ties warm

Chinese company Tongwei Group is looking to expand its business in the Philippines as the relation between the country and China improves in recent times. 

According to Chen Xi, project manager of Development Department of Tongwei Co., Ltd., the company previously attempted without success, potential ventures in aquatic, livestock and poultry feeds for the Philippines market. "Negotiations did not work out," Chen told Philippine News Agency.

Tongwei, which has more than 170 affiliated companies and over 20,000 employees in China and Southeast Asia, is eager for "more opportunities",  specifically in South Asia and Southeast Asia, Hu Rongzhu, vice president of Tongwei Group, revealed in an interview at the company's new headquarters in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China.

"Our products are very competitive in terms of cost and quality," he added.

As one of China's top agricultural companies, Tongwei Group has the biggest sales volume in agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery.

For 20 years straight, its aquatic feeds dominates the Chinese market with a 20% share.
