Bird flu re-surfaces in Vietnam
Veterinary officials in a Vietnamese province said Wednesday (Aug 9) that four out of 239 poultry tested for the H5N1 bird flu virus were infected.
The samples were taken from ducks belonging to two backyard farmers in Ben Tre, a Mekong Delta province.
One of the two farmers' flocks was destroyed; the other flock had already been sold by the time the results were announced.
The province's veterinary department has begun taking poultry samples from near the two households and began fresh vaccination campaigns.
