Canada releases report recent case of mad cow disease

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has wrapped up their investigation into a case of mad cow disease in a 16-year-old Manitoba cow.

The federal agency says they were able to trace back 21 herdmates born around the same time as the infected cow. One was still alive and which tested negative for mad cow disease.

The CFIA said the cow was likely exposed to the agent in 1989 or 1990, before the ban on feed laced with animal parts.

Meanwhile, investigation into Canada's latest case of mad cow disease is nearing completion.

That cow was only 50 months old and was born after the feed ban.
