Russia imports more meat products from non-CIS countries
For this year's first half, Russian meat imports from non-CIS countries rose 20.4 percent year-on-year to 394,100 tonnes, excluding poultry, according to the country's government.
Beef, pork and mutton imports from non-CIS countries rose 41.9 percent, 4.9 percent and 71.2 percent year-on-year respectively. Total meat imports from non-CIS countries were worth US$525.7 million.
Meanwhile, Russian meat imports from CIS countries fell 36.4 percent year-on-year to 27,000 tonnes in this year's first half. Total meat imports from CIS countries were worth US$64.1 million.
Overall, Russia imported 421,100 tonnes of meat worth US$589.8 million in the first half of 2005.
Russian poultry imports for this year's first half increased 33.1 percent year-on-year to 577,500 tonnes and were worth US$359.4 million. Poultry was only imported from non-CIS countries.
The government added that grain exports totalled 3.2 million tonnes worth US$387.5 million from January to June this year.
