Western Australia's beef exports up due to quality

A significant rise in Western Australia's beef exports in recent years was due to their quality, according to industry reports.

Beef exports have risen 150 percent since 2000, with lamb and mutton exports rising 70 percent, reports said.

Japan was now Western Australia's major beef market, with a seven-fold increase in exports during the past five years, the state's government said.

Industry feedback stated that the soaring exports were partly a result of the discovery of mad cow disease in the US.
