Tunisia to host 3rd annual AFRAQ2024 aquaculture conference

Tunisia's National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM), representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries of Tunisia, signed the hosting agreement to host the 3rd Annual International Conference and Exposition of the African Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (AFRAQ2024), Fish Farmer reported.

This commitment from the government of Tunisia and its associated institutions ensures collaboration with the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) for the smooth organisation of the event. AFRAQ2024 will take place in Hammamet, Tunisia, from November 19-22, 2024.

Beyond government backing, leading aquaculture companies in Tunisia have pledged their support by offering AFRAQ2024 attendees the chance to tour their offshore seabream and seabass facilities in the Mediterranean.

These companies are affiliated with AFRAQ2024's Gold Sponsor, Nutrifish, which specialises in the processing and distribution of commercial aquafeeds. Nutrifish operates a state-of-the-art aquafeed mill with an annual capacity of up to 30,000 tonnes. These and other companies will showcase their offerings in a dedicated pavilion at the AFRAQ2024 Exhibition.

The conference, themed "Blue Farming: New Horizons for Economic Growth," is expected to draw over a thousand participants from Africa and worldwide. It will highlight recent aquaculture research, innovations, and investments essential for the sector's continued growth in Africa. The event will feature a scientific forum, including oral and poster presentations, a trade exhibition, industry forums, satellite workshops, student events, aquaculture and farm tours, among other activities.
