Pork prices in China decline in final week of July

Pork prices in China declined during the five-day period July 27 (Monday) to 31 (Friday), latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs showed, Xinhua reported.

During that period, the average price index in 16 provincial-level regions was 48.74 yuan (about US$6.98) per kilogramme, down 0.3% week on week.

The government has taken steps to boost supply, such as releasing frozen pork reserves and increasing imports.

It has also increased financial support through subsidies and loans, among others, to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
