Brazilian chicken, pig meat exports increases in Jan - July
Brazilian poultry meat exports increased 7.85% to 2.628 million tonnes during the first seven months compared with the same period last year, the country's Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) has reported. The value of these exports was 13.33% higher than the same period in 2015.
However, exports in July alone declined 18.9% year-on-year, with their values also lower, by 21.2%.
"Purchases declined in certain import markets for fresh products in the Middle East and Asia. This is a direct result of high production costs, which influenced the increase in international prices this year," Francisco Turra, chief executive of ABPA, said as quoted in a report on thepoultrysite.com.
Pork exports in January-July, meanwhile, showed a 42.2% increase over last year but July exports declined 4.8% year-on-year,.
