Since November 2011, Australia's beef exports to Japan reached their highest monthly volume in July.
Meat and Livestock Australia reports Australia shipped 31,703 tonnes shipped weight of beef to Japan in July, 2% higher than both the same month last year and the five-year July average.
July saw an increase in frozen beef shipments, up 13% on 2012 to 21,288 tonnes, but partially offset by lower chilled beef exports, down 14% to 10,415 tonnes.
Frozen grass-fed beef exports to Japan during the month lifted 12% on-year to 16,422 tonnes with the majority manufacturing beef comprising 14,123 tonnes or 45% of entire shipments to Japan.
The fall in chilled grain-fed exports, 20% below last year to 6,272 tonnes, was also influenced by elevated imports of US chilled beef.
