EU might ban Russian and Kazakh poultry imports
The European Commission (EC) has requested EU member states to ban all Russian and Kazakh poultry imports, following the recent bird flu outbreaks in both countries.
In addition, the EC has extended the ban imposed on poultry imports from affected Asian countries.
In Russia, two other Siberian regions, Irkutsk and Kemerovo, have banned poultry imports from Novosibirsk where the outbreak was first detected.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan has also banned Russian and Kazakh poultry imports to prevent bird flu from spreading to the country, the country's government said.
