Israel to support research of marine aquaculture in Eilat

Israel will invest in promoting the research of marine aquaculture in the southern port city of Eilat, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on August 5.

According to Netanyahu, dozens of millions of shekels (about US$10-20 million) will be invested at the port to support technology and development of the mariculture sector.

Netanyahu sees marine aquaculture as "the future of the food," saying global industry and startups would take part in this hub.

Uri Ariel, Israel's minister of agriculture and rural development, said that Israel is one of the world's leaders in research and development of marine aquaculture, with "invaluable knowledge in this field."
