Vinamilk's 'super milk plant' in Binh Duong, Vietnam to commence operation
 

 

 

Vinamilk (VNM) has completed the construction and installation of equipment at its "super milk plant" at Binh Duong in Vietnam, which is scheduled to open in late of August 2013, after the completion of its trial operation.


The Super VNM milk factory, with total area of 20 hectares at My Phuoc Industrial Park (Binh Duong), costs VND2,400 billion (US$115 million). Capacity upon completion of the first phase will be 1.2 million litres of milk/day; and capacity in the second phase will be raised up to 2.4 million litres of milk/day (800 million litres/year), the equivalent capacity of nine existing plants. 
 
In addition, VNM Vietnam's baby formula plant was inaugurated on April 22, 2013 at VSIP (Binh Duong) and marked the development of the dairy industry in Vietnam. The baby formula factory spans 60,000 square metres, at an investment of US$100 million. It is considered the largest and most modern in Asia, with a capacity of 54,000 tonnes of milk powder/year. It attained international standards including HACCP, GMP, CODEX, and its modern machinery and synchronisation technology were installed by the GEA Group / NIRO and leading firms in the G7, EU, Germany, USA, Japan. 


Mai Kieu Lien, chairman and CEO of Vinamilk said, the establishment of  super dairies plant is aligned to the strategy for 2010-15, part of VNM vision of 2020, with the goal of making VNM the largest milk producer in Vietnam and the region.


At the opening ceremony on April 22, 2013, Mai also announced that VNM has received the investment certificate of a plant in Cambodia, one of the biggest markets for milk export of VNM. She said VNM has exported around US$40-50 million worth of dairy product to Cambodia yearly, a value deemed sufficient to justify the construction of a milk plant.
