Ukraine's June pig population up 1.8%
Ukraine's pig population grew 1.8% in June or 141,600 heads compared to May, to 7,847,700 heads as of July 1, 2012.
Pig population increased by 2.1% or 92,000 heads compared to May, to 4,410,300 heads in private farms, and by 1.5% or 49,600 heads to 3,437,400 heads in specialised farms.
The pig population fell by 1.5% or 122,100 heads against July 1, 2011.
Specifically, pig population fell by 0.9% or 32,400 heads in specialised farms, and by 2% or 89,700 heads in private farms.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in May the pig population rose by 2.8% or 206,400 heads compared to April, to 7,706,100 heads as of June 1, 2012.
