China's Chongqing may release reserve pork
The municipal government of Chongqing had received the central government's approval on August 4 to release 400 tonnes of pork reserves to the local market.
A local government official mentioned that currently, some 7,000 heads of hogs are supplied to the city daily. Supplies from the pork reserves will be released should the supply crunch persist. Chongqing's municipal government is also actively seeking to procure supplies from rural townships in neighbouring Sichuan province to fill the supply gap.
