Foot-and-mouth disease confirmed in second UK cattle herd
Foot and mouth disease has been confirmed in a second herd of cattle in southern England, Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Hilary Benn told BBC television Tuesday (Aug 7).
Tests had been carried out on some 50 cattle late Monday, Benn said. The cows were within the initial 3-kilometre-radius protection zone set up Friday around a farm 30 miles south-west of London where a first group of infected cattle was found.
