Indonesia's Import And Export Of Poultry Products
Following Indonesia's ban on imported chicken parts which commenced in September 2000, poultry meat imports from the U.S. have dropped sharply.
Indonesia imported a total of 11,440 tons of chicken leg quarters from the U.S. in year 2,000. The figure fell drastically to 432 tons in 2001 and 24 metric tons in 2002.
However, Indonesia's exports of chicken meat products to Japan have increased, mainly boneless chicken and further processed products.
In 2002, the total export value of frozen poultry parts to Japan was US $4,827,735, an increase of 73 percent over 2001.
