Bulgaria reports African swine fever, 200 rare swine to be culled
Veterinary authorities in Bulgaria said they have detected African swine fever(ASF) in a farm located on the eastern part of the country, with close to 200 swine of a rare local breed to be culled, Reuters reported.
The farm is located at Yunets village, near the Black Sea city of Varna raising the rare East Balkan Swine breed. 15 out of the 212 swine there died from the disease, according to Bulgaria's food safety agency.
ASF was first detected in Bulgaria in 2019, with over 170,000 swine culled when the outbreak spread across breeding farms in the country.
