Methionine prices inflate in China as renminbi depreciates

Prices of methionine moved higher during the week ending August 6.

A weak renminbi resulted in lower imports of methionine on the one hand, and stimulated export sales on the other hand. Consequently, methionine availability tightened in China, prompting producers to lift prices over the week even as domestic demand remained slow.

For liquid methionine, price quotes were stable at RMB15.50/kg.
