Singapore bans British meat due to FMD

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has banned meat imports with immediate effect from the United Kingdom due to foot-and-mouth-disease outbreak on a farm near London.

This follows similar moves by the European Union while the US and Japan has also added British pork imports to their existing bans on British beef.

Some 60 cattle on the UK farm had tested positive for the disease, and a 3-kilometre protection zone had been placed around the premises.
