Vietnamese Shrimp Preferred By Japanese, US Importers
Many importers from Japan want to order Vietnamese prawns, even at high prices, an official from Vietnam's Ministry of Fisheries said.
American importers also hope to import a large amount of prawns from Vietnam although the prices have climbed. The increase is partly due to the impact of the preliminary ruling on the shrimp anti-dumping lawsuit by the US Department of Commerce.
Vietnam would have an advantage in exporting large-size tiger prawns, as the tiger prawn supply is gradually dwindling worldwide with many countries switching to raise other kinds of shrimp, experts said.
