Russia bans Canada's pork offal products

The Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Primorsky Krai has banned more than 25 tonnes of Canadian pork offals into the Russian Federation which do not comply with CU sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic measures.

In the course of the state veterinary control of animal products imported into the Russian Federation at the State border the Rosselkhoznadzor specialists for the Primorsky Krai detected that the container with frozen pork hearts imported from Canada into Vladivostok port did not fulfill the CU sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic requirements in terms of organoleptic characteristics.

Thus, the laboratory investigations of pork heart carried out by the FGBI "Primorsk Interoblast Veterinary Laboratory" detected wholes in muscle tissue which were not characteristic for this organ, the heart fat had also greyish colour. An abnormal smell was detected.

According to the information of the department for border veterinary surveillance at the State border and transport for the Primorsky Krai, 24,042 tonnes of heart of poor quality were to be returned to the exporting country.
