Ukraine grain exports up 25 percent in June
In June, Ukraine exported 1.7 million tonnes of grain, up 25.3 percent or 348,850 tonnes on-year, according to Ukrainian News, citing a source in the Cabinet of Ministers.
Compared to the previous month, grain exports in June fell 17.7 percent or 370,320 tonnes.
For the first half of 2009, grain exports rose 8.6 million tonnes to 12 million tonnes valued at US$1.6 million.
Syria, Iran and Egypt were the largest importers of Ukrainian corn in June. Spain and South Korea were the largest markets for Ukrainian wheat, while Saudi Arabia was the largest buyer of Ukrainian barley.
