Produmix to further investment in R&D projects
In its latest update, Produmix has highlighted two international R&D projects which "specifically stand out".
For the project SaltGae, which 19 companies are participating in, the European Comission had approved a budget of 10,000 million euros (US$11,900 million). Produmix says it would provide its knowledge in animal feeding and production and, among other tasks, evaluate nutrient profile of algae. Protocols to compare algae's nutritional characteristics with other standardised raw materials would then be carried out.
For the project EUROSTARS ENTAN, Produmix is leading it, with the objectives of analysing the most suitable sources of tannins for piglet nutrition, as well as studying encapsulation processes to eliminate the negative aspects of tannin use. They will also be tested as an alternative to antibiotics and as a system based on cleaner production principles, particularly considering ammonia content in urine and CO2 emission. The approved budget for the project is 790,442 euros (US$939,000).
