Shrimp production in Sonora is one of the highest of all states in Mexico. Shrimp farms occupy 25,133.70 hectares (ha) of land. The stocking density for 2011 was 25,462.55 ha with three cycles of shrimp cultures, a production of 40,697.278 tonnes and a yield of 1.60 (kg/ha).
