Hong Kong bans Russian fresh chicken following Novosibirsk bird flu outbreak

Local authorities in Hong Kong have announced a temporary ban on Russia's fresh chicken, following the recent bird flu outbreak in the Novosibirsk region.

The Russian General Consulate in Hong Kong has confirmed the information, adding that the ban only applied to fresh chicken and live birds but not frozen poultry products.

The consulate also said that the ban was a "mere formality" because Russia did not export chickens to Hong Kong.
