Vietnamese localities now allowed to export poultry eggs to Hong Kong, China
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of Hong Kong, China, has permitted several Vietnamese localities to resume exporting their poultry eggs to this territory, starting August 1.
In a July 31 Telegram message addressing Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Hong Kong department announced the lifting of its ban on importing poultry eggs and poultry egg-related products from Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces in Vietnam.
Therefore, from this August, businesses, farms and breeders in the aforementioned localities can officially export poultry eggs and egg-related products to Hong Kong.
To be allowed for export, shipments must be carefully inspected by the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and be granted an export quarantine certificate in line with the form of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong issued a ban on importing Vietnamese poultry eggs and poultry egg-related products from several south-eastern provinces in Vietnam four years ago.
The Department of Animal Health and the localities immediately worked out plans on avian influenza prevention and control. They also cooperated closely with international organisations to monitor and promptly respond to avian influenza, build facilities safe from diseases and introduce solutions to disease prevention and control in poultry.
