Vietnam acts to prevent spread of pig disease from China

Vietnam's government has instructed northern provinces bordering China and agencies concerned, to strictly prevent smuggling of pigs and pork products from China into the country.

China's Sichuan province recently reported an outbreak of a deadly pig disease, which has claimed over 30 human lives so far.

Any smuggled live pigs or pork products from China must be destroyed immediately if detected, the government said.

The government also urged the media to keep citizens informed about the potential dangers of the disease.
