H5N1 avian influenza strikes Naqu City, Tibet Autonomous Region, China

China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs received a report from the country's Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center that an outbreak of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza occurred in Naqu City, Tibet Autonomous Region.

However, there is no poultry breeding household within 10,000km from the outbreak. Following the outbreak, authorities in the affected local area immediately carried out emergency response in accordance with the provisions of an emergency implementation plan.

The treatment of all sick, wild birds have also been conducted. Additionally, personnel and livestock, including poultry types, are prohibited from entering the epidemic control area.
