Singapore, Malaysia invest US$47 million for North Vietnam's wheat mill
On July 31, construction of a wheat processing plant with an investment of US$47 million in Vietnam's northern province of Quang Ninh was launched by VFM-Wilmar, a joint venture of Singapore's Wimar International Ltd and Malaysia's FFM Berhad.
The VFM-Wilmar mill, covering 3.4-hectare area at Cai Lan Industrial Zone in Ha Long city, is expected to start operation in 2014 with a daily production capacity of 500 tonnes of flour, flour related and by products.
Equipped with modern and friendly production chain, the plant will provide flour for production of bread, confectionery as well as by-products for animal feed production.
Vietnam consumes million tonnes of wheat every year. In 2011, the country spent US$802 million to import 2.394 million tonnes of wheat.
