Nippon Suisan acquires frozen-seafood manufacturer Delmar
Japan's Nippon Suisan Kaisha Ltd. has acquired frozen-seafood producer Delmar Co. in July for an undisclosed price.
Nippon Suisan, known as Nissui, bought all of Delmar's shares from its parent company.
Based in Chiba, Delmar supplies frozen-seafood products like fish burgers and fish sticks to restaurants. It logged JPY8.7 billion (US$100 million) in sales in 2009.
Nissui, a seafood company that also makes prepared and processed foods, will use Delmar's processing plants in Chiba, Thailand and elsewhere to strengthen its own commercial food business.
