Ukraine Bans Poultry Imports From Sweden And Finland
The State Department for Veterinary Medicine of the Agrarian Policy Ministry of Ukraine introduced a ban for imports of poultry, poultry meat and the resulting products from some regions of Finland and Sweden, because of discovery of Newcastle bird disease on these territories.
A spokesman for the Department said the ban concerned the Swedish county of Ostergotland and the administrative territory Western Finland (administrative district Satakunta).
Newcastle disease is one of the grave virus-induced infectious diseases of birds. It affects the respiratory tract, nervous and digestion systems of the bird.
