Ukraine Harvested 16.359 Million MT Grain To July 29
 
Ukraine harvested 16.359 million metric tons of grain to July 29 with an average yield of 2.97 tons a hectare, an agriculture ministry official stated.
 
The grain was harvested on 5.045 million ha, which is 50% of the planned total area.
 
The wheat harvest to date was 9.893 million tons on 3.239 million ha, which is 57% of the planned total area, with an average yield of 3.22 tons/ha.
 
The barley harvest to date was 5.442 million tons on 2.257 million ha, which is 48% of the planned total area, with an average yield of 2.66 tons/ha.
 
Ukraine's grain harvest fell in 2003 due to adverse weather conditions to just over 20 million tons, from nearly 40 million tons in 2002.
 
The agriculture ministry expects the 2004 grain harvest at 32 million-35 million tons.
