Vietnam to build aquaculture centre in Mekong Delta
The Fisheries Ministry will invest VND 35 billion (US$2.16 million) to build a centre which will focus on aquatic breeding techniques to farmers in Mekong Delta's Soc Trang province.
The ministry also plans to build seven more aquatic product breeding nurseries in the region with a capacity of 72 billion fry.
Although the Mekong Delta is currently home to almost 1,500 aquatic product breeding centres, they are only able to meet a small proportion of demand from local producers, particularly for high-quality shrimp fry.
