Belarus negotiates with China for poultry exports

Belarus' Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov has met with the Minister of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), Sun Meijun, as part of the working visit of the head of the Belarusian agricultural department to China.

The negotiations were conducted in a trusting and friendly environment, focusing on enhancing trade-economic relations between the two countries.

"Both parties signed a bilateral protocol concerning inspection, quarantine, and veterinary and sanitary standards for poultry exports from Belarus to China," the Ministry of Agriculture and Food noted.

Gorlov thanked his Chinese counterparts for organising the meeting and highlighted the high level of professionalism demonstrated by the Chinese Customs personnel in ensuring control over mutual trade. He emphasised that agriculture is a source of pride for Belarus, and Belarusian products are well-received by Chinese consumers.

According to the department's press service, 188 Belarusian food producers are registered in the China Import Food Enterprise Registration (CIFER) system. Gorlov expressed confidence that the results of the talks will provide a foundation for continued professional dialogue and reflect the strategic trust-based relationship between the two countries.

The parties also discussed the arrangement of supplying products from Belarus' poultry processing industry to the Chinese market, with particular focus on ensuring that the goods meet Chinese quality and safety standards.

"The Belarusian side showed interest in broadening the variety of goods supplied to China, including different kinds of cereals, flakes, bran, and flour (such as oatmeal, barley, buckwheat, corn, and wheat), along with non-food products like rapeseed cake and peat," the Belarusian ministry's press service said.

Additionally, Belarus is keen on providing China with ready-to-eat poultry and beef products that have been heat-treated, as well as canned poultry, turkey, and duck meat.
