China delivers resources to Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to fight ASF

The Chinese embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has donated resources to the local government of the Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to help residents fight against African swine fever (ASF), the embassy said on July 28.

Chinese Political Counselor Miao Dake delivered the resources to representatives of the government of Republika Srpska last week.

"The current outbreak of African swine fever is fierce," Miao said. "The (Republika Srpska) is facing serious difficulties in accessing materials needed to fight the virus, and we are willing to help it overcome the epidemic as soon as possible."

Nina Sajic, advisor to the president of Republika Srpska, said that China was the first country to provide assistance to Republika Srpska.

The local government there declared on July 10 a state of emergency in the city of Bijeljina and the municipalities of Lopare and Ugljevik due to the emergence and rapid spread of ASF.
