Prospects are bright for Ukraine's rapeseed export
Ukraine is expected to double its rapeseed export to 2.2 million tonnes in MY2008/09, according to Agrimarket.
Rapeseed is one of the main export-oriented crops in the country, with up to 90 percent of production exported.
Turkey is the largest buyer for Ukrainian rapeseed, expected to buy 140,000 tonnes this season, up from just 30,000 tonnes in 2005/06.
Other customers include EU countries (Poland, Germany, Netherlands) and Asian countries such as Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Ukrainian rapeseed is cheaper than rapeseeds produced by France, providing it with a market in the western European markets.
