Australia's Sprintex secures private-label deal to enter China's aquaculture market

A A$9.3 million (US$6.10 million) private-label supply agreement has opened the door to enter China's vast aquaculture market, delivering its first dedicated revenue stream from the sector.
The three-year exclusive deal with Guangdong Baode Technology Co. Ltd. (BD Compressor) will see Sprintex's G15 series jet blowers distributed under BD's branding, providing a scalable platform for growth in the world's largest producer of farmed seafood.
The agreement includes a minimum first-quarter order of A$320,000 (US$210,166.82) and opens the door to significant future revenue through scalable deployment, with aquaculture farms often requiring hundreds of units.
South China, including BD's home province of Guangdong, produces more than half of China's 50 million tonnes of annual aquaculture output.
"This agreement with BD Compressor is a significant milestone as Sprintex expands into China, the world's largest and fastest-growing aquaculture market," Sprintex managing director Jay Upton said. "With BD's established reputation and national network, alongside Sprintex's leading technology offering this partnership is anticipated to deliver thousands of units into the China aquaculture sector and considerable environmental and cost-saving benefits. This A$9.3m contract marks Sprintex's first private-label partnership globally and creates a foundation for sustained growth in China and beyond."
Sprintex's G15 series blowers will be sold under BD Compressor's brand, with the exclusivity limited to China's pond-based aquaculture sector.
The contract includes a staged minimum purchase commitment over three years: A$2.25 million (US$1.47 million) in year one, A$3.21 million (US$2.10 million) in year two, and A$3.85 millio (US$2.52 million) in year three. This provides Sprintex with strong revenue visibility and supports operational scale-up.
The initial A$320,000 order for the September 2025 quarter ensures early income and production ramp-up as BD begins marketing the blowers across its national network.
China dominates global aquaculture, producing over 60% of the world's output with an annual volume of approximately 50 million tonnes. The industry is valued at more than US$200 billion per year, making it the largest globally by both volume and value.
South China, and in particular Guangdong Province — where BD Compressor is focused — leads the nation's aquaculture production, contributing more than half of the country's total output. Guangdong alone generates over 25 million tonnes annually, exceeding the total production of any other country.
Aquaculture in this region is typically large-scale, with operations comprising more than 500 pond sheds per site. Each shed requires multiple blowers for aeration and water quality, and a single farm may require hundreds of units — representing a substantial market for Sprintex and BD Compressor.
Key growth drivers include rising domestic seafood demand, expansion of export markets, and stricter environmental regulations promoting the adoption of energy-efficient, sustainable technologies. With sector growth forecast at 4%–5% per annum, long-term expansion is expected.
Sprintex's oil-free, high-efficiency blowers offer more than 50% energy savings over traditional systems, positioning the company to meet both the regulatory requirements and cost-efficiency demands of this expanding sector.
