US egg production in June dropped 2%
The United States' chicken egg production declined in June this year.
According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), 8.809 billion eggs were produced in the month, 2% less than June 2023, and with a 3% decrease in the number of layers canceling out a 1% increase in efficiency. That included lower moves for both table and hatching eggs.
The number of broiler-type chicks hatched rose slightly, while the number of egg-type chicks hatched fell 3%.
Placements of broiler and egg-type pullets by breeders for future domestic hatchery supply flocks were above year ago levels.
