Mexico allows import of Brazilian chicken
Mexico has permitted the import of Brazilian chicken and eggs aftering accepting Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply's (MAPA) health guarantees for the products.
"With a documentation acknowledging our health guarantees, we can start exporting," said Brazilian agriculture minister, Antonio Andrade. He added that MAPA would issue export certificates to be completed by exporting companies within days.
Chicken is a major export for Brazil, which sold 1.8 million tonnes of the meat, worth US$3.8 billion, to foreign markets in the first six months of 2013. This represents a 7.9% on-year increase, reflecting Brazil's efforts to open new export markets.
